Columbia Chemistry is a dominant force in materials chemistry, with a host of preeminent faculty leading the way in synthetic, physical, and theoretical materials research. Research groups work on the development of new materials including polymers, quantum dots, and small molecule organics and inorganics, as well as on elucidating the physical properties of new and classical materials and on integrating new materials into electronic devices. Fields of study include research into biomaterials, materials synthesis, ultrafast spectroscopy, single-molecule electronics, and more.
