Many groups in the Department of Chemistry incorporate the study of biological systems into their research. This has lead to a breadth of groundbreaking work in computational biology, synthetic biology, and biophysics. Researchers in the department work on everything from elucidating the structure and function of biomaterials and macromolecules to development of microorganism-based synthetic methods to the synthesis of new molecular probes for investigating key biological pathways and curing disease.
