New Catalytic Strategies for Natural Product and Pharmaceutical Development

Abstract:
The drug development pipeline has been heavily influenced by the discovery and isolation of natural products. However, while some compounds can be harvested directly from natural sources, often the only reliable and sustainable supply of these compounds is through synthesis. This talk will focus on how the structural redesign of natural products can be accomplished to both maintain chemical complexity and biological efficacy, while simultaneously simplifying synthetic difficulty. Additionally, the development of new synthetic methods that can enable the installation of high-value chemical matter will be described.
