Hiring Assistant Professor Specializing in Computational and/or Theoretical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Columbia University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor position to start July 1, 2025. This tenure-track position is open to all computational and/or theoretical chemists. It will begin with a three-year joint appointment with the Initiative for Computational Catalysis at the Flatiron Institute. The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated the potential to perform innovative and pioneering research, teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, participate in service to the department, university, and field, and engage in activities that promote our goals and values, including building an equitable and diverse scientific community. Their research program should also align with the goals of the Initiative for Computational Catalysis and of the Flatiron Institute.
The new faculty member will be joining a collegial department at Columbia with a vibrant research enterprise, lively undergraduate and graduate teaching programs, and a strong record in public outreach. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not
limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The
above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible
compensation at the time of posting.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD at the time of appointment.
